Operation procedure：

1. Mount the SPME probe into the SPME manual or automatic handle.

2. Aging: Insert the SPME probe into the GC inlet at 260ºC and age for 60 minutes (the probe extraction head turns slightly yellow).

3. Extraction: Insert the SPME probe needle through the sample bottle spacer and into the sample bottle. Push the handle rod and extend the probe extraction head. The probe extraction head can enter the aqueous solution (immersion mode) or be placed in the upper space of the sample (headspace mode) for extraction, and the extraction time is 5-60min. Withdraw the probe extractor and pull the probe out of the sample bottle.

4. GC injection: The SPME probe tube was inserted into the GC injection port, the handle rod was pushed, the probe extraction head was extended, and the analyte was thermally desorption into the chromatographic column, the desorption time was 1-5min. Withdraw the probe extraction head and pull the probe out of the inlet.

Matters needing attention： 

1. The SPME probe cannot use non-polar organic solvents such as n-hexane, dichloromethane, diethyl ether, etc.

2. There should be no glass fiber in the inner lining pipe of the injection port. The inner lining pipe can be of the lower closure type or the straight through type.

3. If the probe is not used for more than 12 hours before use, it should be aged at 260 ° C at the inlet for 60 minutes.

4. Using GC-MS instrument, 5 silicone peaks can be detected, which are the loss peak of the probe at high temperature, with a fixed retention time and peak area, which is a normal phenomenon and does not affect the detection.

5. Setting of desorption time: After the probe is inserted into the inlet, the method starts to run. In the method, the initial temperature of the heating program is set at 40℃ and maintained for 2min, then 2min is the desorption time. After 2min, the normal heating program is set. During the analytical time, the target component is desorbed from the extraction layer under the action of high temperature at the inlet, carried into the column by carrier gas, and condensed on the column head.
